Malta has the smallest capital in the EU with around 5 000 people living in Valetta. It’s the perfect weekend if you love history and architecture.

Most of the buidlings are in yellow lime stone and the streets are narrow and cosy. When you have done Valetta, take a boat over to Sliema, the modern part of the the greater Valetta area.

Since Malta is between Africa and Europe, it has a mix of both Mediteranean and Nort African dishes and lots of delicious sweets to enjoy between all the walking. Tuna sandwiches is a speciality and everywhwere you can have a tuna sallad.

When on vacation – don’t think about carbs, just relax and indulge !

When it comes to beverage, there are local wine and craft beers. The craft beer culture is relative new so beers are mild in ther styles and not to hefty. You can enjoy light and hoppy IPAs but also a wide range of lagers and ales.

Make a visit at The brew in Sliema with a view over the harbour.

The brewhouse has two breweries. The more commercial Brew house brewery and also The Chapel Gastrobrewpub that has a handfull of craft beers. The Chapel brewery is a small microbrewery situated on one of the floors in Brew House.

But just wandering the streets in Valetta is amazing with all the beautiful yellow lime stone walls decorated with beautiful balconys.

Local transport is easy and buses are easy to find on google maps with live updates. I tried a few buses during the trip and it was easy to navigate. From the airport you can take the airport bus for 3 euro and back to the airport you can choose from both local buses and the airport bus.

After living in Morocco four years, i felt like home in Malta with the nice climate, the food and feeling. This was also my 52nd country to visit. Cheers to that !
